Benefits of Purposeful Living

Our need for purposeful living is an inescapable part of life. Even if and when we retire from our jobs and careers, we can never retire our need to live with a sense of purpose and to feel useful. 

Our need for purposeful living is evidenced by the strong health benefits that derive from its pursuit. People who live with a high sense of life purpose tend to live longer and enjoy better physical health, resilience, and well-being. Conversely, chronic boredom or having a low sense of life purpose is associated with decreased well-being and an increased risk of future medical illness.
